Revised H1N1 Vaccination Schedule

11-03-2009

The Marion County Health Department (MCHD) revised the vaccination schedule for IPS middle and high schools on Nov. 19. Free vaccinations for the H1N1 virus will be given to IPS students who have returned completed consent forms according to the schedule below.

The vaccinations will be performed during the school day at the child's school. The goal is to have all school-age children who have the appropriate consent form vaccinated by the middle of December.

Students who do not return a signed consent form will not be able to receive the vaccine at school.

MCHD will provide vaccine, nurses and other essential items. An MCHD representative will be on hand during the vaccination process to answer questions and supervise operations. MCHD Public Health nurses will provide the vaccine to students. If necessary, additional vaccinating nurses will be used from a variety of nursing agencies.

MCHD - not IPS - is in charge of the H1N1 vaccination process at the schools. MCHD staff will make the decision regarding who will receive the vaccine and whether it will be in the nasal spray or injectable form.
